Montgolfier over the Loire

We boarded the ferry at Plymouth last night, went straight to our cabin and got our heads down.  For all I remember it was probably quite a smooth crossing and when that strange quasi japanese music came on at 6 am we clambered out and did the basics before wandering to the restaurant deck for coffee. We disembarked without much delay and with my now proficient knowledge of Roscoff (after spending several days there in July)  we went into town and had breakfast at Bar Ty Pierre which was a much better experience than the Brittany Ferries offering.

By 9.30 (French time) we were on the road heading east and south. It seems that now the August vacation period is over the French are digging up all the roads and trimming all the verges causing no end of delays on the roads, still we got through it and arrived in Amboise, which is mainly famous for its celebrities. Leonardo DaVinci in the 16th Louis XVI in the 18th and Sir Michael de Jagger more recently. We checked into our hotel at about 4.30. We’ve had a wander into town now and had a fairly poor meal in a restaurant that seemed better than it turned out, or maybe we’re just a bit tired. Time to hit the sack, me thinks, we’ll have a more relaxing day tomorrow.
