Trench Swap

Another relative today - near Paignton in Devon. She's the widow of my late father's late cousin, if that makes sense and is a very lively and attractive 81! I was picking her brains and recording stories about both her late husband, who was a Halifax pilot during WW2 and her late father-in-law who was in the Royal Engineers during the First War.

She showed me this little 'champagne' pocket knife which he swapped for his own pocket knife with a French soldier in the trenches! What a lovely little object!
