Construction activity

Day 2 of the process I am involved in in Manchester.

I took this from the car park just after I arrived. It is a bit of a record shot for me - it will continue to evolve. Loads of construction activity going on including:

* The Ordsall Chord, the new rail link which will for the first time connect Victoria and Piccadilly stations and free up lots of capacity on the rail network. In view the new footbridge across the Irwell, George Stephenson's stone bridge revealed for the first time in over 100 years, lots of stuff going on around Trinity Way,  and sections of new railway bridge in the compound in the foreground (this is one of seven compounds scattered around the area). The railway bridge will form part of a the new rail line that will cross Trinity Way and the Irwell - that part of the construction process is going to be fascinating.

* To the left a new apartment block next to the Premier Inn (and another behind it), both English Cities Fund

* In the middle distance two other apartment blocks, the one on the right in Salford, the one on the left in Manchester, both Renaker  (the administrative geography around here is not always apparent)

* To the right a very large site being developed around a section of reopened Manchester Bolton Bury Canal, by the Scarborough group

* And right in the distance two cranes, some distance apart, at Salford Quays - more high rise apartments

it's a bit of a mini boom !
