The End of the Season

Most of the holidaymakers have now returned from whence they came. It tends to co-incide with two big events. The first is the Vendange, the wine harvest. This pretty much starts first weekend of September and lasts a month. There will no doubt be at least one blip commemorating this years harvest. The econd is the harvesting of the sunflowers. Vines are our biggest crop but sunflowers come second. They spend the summer looking cheerily towards the sun putting on a great display for locals and visitors alike and then as the holidaymakers leave, they die off. The actual harvesting will take place in a few weeks and it will hearld the start of autumn when all the greens of the vines and other crops will turn orange, gold and other autumnal shades.

And some of them look a little bit "meerkatish"
