The Bell

We are lucky that we picked up a new owner this last year who lives in a local village. They don't rent out so we only get to see the house just before they come out to stay to prepare it. It is an absolute treasure trove of possible blips. Part of the reason is that this used to be an old Presbytery and many original features are still present.

One of these is the old bell. It can still be used, and the cord hangs down two floors through a spiral staircase. (See extra photo). The rope for tolling the bell has knots every foot or so up the rope. It's is not a particularly heavy bell so won't be for helping with moving it but perhaps they have some significance, either religious or something to do with trainee priests who will have passed through it's doors.

We have been very good and not given in to the temptation to ring it, although when the owner is in residence they occasionally give it a try out.
