Life's Little Moments

Savoring the last of summer

I wasn't really in any doubt that today's blip was going to be a hummer.  The days are slipping away all too quickly and very soon the last of these tiny birds will be on their way to Mexico.  It is amazing to me that they will somehow know just where to go - even though their parents are already long gone.  Somehow, something in their DNA will guide them to the exact place they need to be.  Fascinating and mysterious.

Haven't seen any warblers today...yet.  But there is an Eastern Wood Pewee ( a small flycatcher) hunting insects from the edge of the woods.  I always enjoying watching flycatchers - they are so fast on the wing, able to catch all manner of insect in flight.  Soon, they will be gone, too.

Thanks for the kind words about my mom.  This is her second round with basil cell, and her third round with cancer.  Nearly 20 years ago, she beat lung cancer which is something not that many people can say as it is a particularly lethal cancer.  She is an amazing woman and I'm very proud to be her daughter.  Love you, mom.

Have a wonderful weekend...
