Basketball

Another early start on a very quiet tube. I was concerned that the underground was going to be super busy but I shouldn't have. There were seats for everyone all the way to West Ham. Once there we had a nice jolly walk to the Olympic Park. The first thing that hit you was the wild flowers everywhere. Lots of people were stopping to take boring pictures of them even before the stadium was in sight.

The size of the Olympic Park is ridiculous. It is so so big and magnificant. However us being us didn't have time to look around too much as we were cutting it fine for the basketball. We managed to find our seats just after the first game had started (a bit like yesterday).

The first game was Angola v Croatia. As with the volleyball there was lots of noise and music and a great family atmosphere. We nipped out just before the end of the first game to get some food in us and get the little ones some air.

We knew Boy was getting tired but took out seats for the Austrailia v Russia game. Not long into the match even with all the noise Boy dropped off on Wife. At the first time out the commentator got the crowd going and got the clapometre on the big screen. The whole place went nuts with an incredible volume. Somehow the boy who never sleeps and who will wake at the slight whisper in the night slept through it. Not only that but he slept through pretty much the rest of the game meaning we got to watch it, and it was good. The Aussies were out in force supporting even some in Austrailian cycling outfits. The Aussie team was good to with one of the ladies at one point sauntering through the opposition and dunking (this doesn't happen much at womens basketball). The Aussie fans went mad at this point.

After the game we wandered around the great park for a bit but after an hour or so it was telling that it was the first day of athletics as the place was heaving with humanity. We tried to see a few things but it was too busy and the queues were too long for little ones to suffer. So we had a nice strole along the water again before heading for home on another quiet and comfortable tube in order to get home in good time. Even with the crowds the place was amazing and we are so pleased to have been there and been a part of it.

We then raced back to the place that has been our home for the last couple of days grabbed our stuff and headed for home. The rain home was a busy one and the little ones along with other little ones seemed to go a bit manic. A young Albanian chap sat with us who Boy took a shine to. Thankfully the man thought Boy was ok to as he had to spend most of the next two hour waving back to him in response to his smiles and waves.

A great day and a great olympic adventure even if we did get home a little late with two very excited little ones.
