Grey heron

This beautiful bird was standing by the Common Burn as we walked round the Common this morning. It seemed quite unconcerned by our presence, and by several noisy children nearby.

DIY and household stuff still on hold! MrM was determined to have another meal at the Redesdale Arms, so we set off to Redesdale late in the afternoon. MrM drove us via the scenic route over the Otterburn military ranges - luckily, the red flags were not flying! It was worth the trip as the food was good, as was my glass of red.

On the way back, by a different route, we stopped a couple of times to allow hedgehogs to cross the road, and swerved to avoid a mouse. We see far to much roadkill on our travels...
