cornfields

ladySp33d went out for a meal tonight with a couple of old uni friends so it was a night on my lonesomegeorge waiting for the 200mfinal on the tellybox. i was hoping to finish work handy so i could squeeze a run in before she left but no such luck, so i drafted mum and dad in last minute to babysit so i could hit the tarmac.

at the start of my run tonight i decided to go through the cornfields near the back of Gresford church, and was hit with this wonderful scene. maybe holding the iPhone up above my head wasn't the best thing to do as that whole 'ears-of-corn-taller-than Robert Pershing Wadlow' thing is lost in translation somewhat, but it still hits the spot i think.

Strava told me i set a new PB for 10k which felt good (1hr 10 - and no doubt 5-8 minutes quicker if you take off the couple of minutes faffing to get iPhone out of armband/take photo/but back in armband and my five minute warm up walk at the start). the longer distances of my 5-10k training seems to disagree with the ankles a little, but nothing a bit of surebutsteady can't put right i hope. i've got 3 weeks to pick the pace up to within 60 minutes. can i do it? i don't really know, but i'm gonna have a damn good try.

ps would like to say a public thanks to Seal for thrashing all my course records yesterday: i was actually going to ask youto run those same segments as i was getting tired of being the only name on the leaderboards. Gimme six months petal and i'll be nibbling at your heels ;)
