The Way of Colour

Through a glass darkly

20C, blue sky, light breeze. Summer without a doubt.

Maeve the Deerhound and I went out for our walk at 11am. It looked like it would get hot. Followed another dog walker down the lower half of the bridle path. Slow! Saw a tractor just leaving the field next to the bridle path. It had all its spraying gear folded up and tucked away behind it. It drove out onto the road and sped away so no chance for a blip.

Two small boys exploring the rock pools with, I presume, their mother as Maeve and I plodded along the beach. The tide was well out and the boats were all lying on the sand again. Maeve was really plodding along in the soft sand and obviously was beginning to feel hot. Slower! She was happier once we got up off the sand onto the grass and had a wander around by the Fishermen's huts. Speeded up to slow. She was looking for shady spots, I was looking for blips. Our painting friend was round the back of his hut today ... painting. One of the Fishermen was taking an outboard motor down to one of the rowing boat sized boats, and another just arrived on his bicycle when we were wandering around.

Today's blip is, or perhaps I should say was, a Perspex window on the side of the cabin of a 'day boat'. Looks like the paint has won out again :-)

Later there was watching of Olympic men's open water swimming on telly while I had my lunch.
Earlier there had been a harvest of Dwarf French Beans from the plants in the greenhouse, and I emptied four of my big pots of second early potatoes (the 'spent' compost goes on the garden as mulch). There has also been back garden mowing and strimming... by then it felt very hot and needless to say Maeve didn't even bother to come out and lie on the grass !

Other sunny pictures are here :-)
