Still empty

The Old Royal High School on Calton Hill in Edinburgh is a fine building in a commanding position yet it remains empty.

The ill fated attempt to make it the home of a Scottish Assembly in the 1970s was followed by a number of plans not least the work done to try and create a Scottish Museum of Photography.

Now it is the subject of two competing further visions - one which would see it become a five star hotel, but with hideous alaterations and additions and another to create a fitting home for St Mary's Music School.

One day a use will have to be found if the continuing deterioration is to be halted before it becomes derelict. The Music School seems the best option and I hope it.comes to fruition.
