Utah Beach

Glorious weather when we arrived at Utah Beach. And very windy.

A wonderful beach walk. Absolutely deserted. We could see where we were yesterday across the Bay. Large groups of oystercatcher were waiting for the tide to turn, little companies of sanderling explored the timeline, and a few skeins of brent geese were flying in from northern Russia.

The beach is fantastic for shells - they can all be found in a 20 ft band towards the top of the beach, which can seen in the photo. The scallop season began at the beginning of this month (that was my meal last night), but lots of other shellfish obviously thrive here.

The museum was excellent. We spent far longer there than intended, it was fascinating stuff. Highly recommended.

I would add an extra, but impossible on a phone.
