Grandcamp Maisy

No Wi Fi for the next few days and intermittent 3G signal. So phone blips it is.

We are staying on a farm just outside Grandcamp Maisy in Normandy. The town is a fishing port - our hostess's youngest son (one of seven) works on a trawler, fishing right up to the English coast. Fascinating watching fish being landed this afternoon.

We've also visited memorials to the D-Day landings - we are very close to Pointe du Hoc where the US Rangers scaled the cliffs on June 6th 1944, and Omaha beach. Also a German cemetery - quite moving. This whole coast feels a little like one big museum and memorial to Operation Overlord.
