Peak Assault Day 2

Continuing on from yesterday's super start, we successfully located a few more checkpoints this morning and unlike yesterday when we had to run the last 3/4km to avoid penalties, today we took things more steadily. This was due to Anna's sore ankle, and the fact that after a stormy night (one of the mess tents - not ours - blew away and was destroyed!) yesterday's horridly uneven terrain had changed to horridly uneven, and boggy.

This blip is very misleading! It was taken at 8am but we'd already had a good 2 hour soaking by then including striking camp. At least we dried out after 8.

When the final scores were announced we were delighted to have finished a satisfying 6th out of 12 adult teams. We were the only all female group and our average age was 18 years more than that of the winning adult team! Our support team who fed us, were from Mid Herts Scouts and their mens' team only beat us by 3 points. #girlscan!

I'm already encouraging more Girlguiding leaders to enter next year... and hopefully some Senior Section too (girls aged 14-18).
