Life through the lens...

Sorry BT

Beverley Market place, East Yorkshire, and here the phone boxes are cream.
You may wonder why!
Well, Hull and district is the only city in the UK to have its own independent telephone company. Founded in 1902, they wanted to show people they were different.

We had a lovely afternoon here after a celebratory lunch at The Star in Sancton.
An early birthday treat for Mr C.and a treat for me too!
They make one of the best steak and ale pies, and his favourite. (see extra photo)

As always we had a walk round the Minster.
We were lucky to hear the last piece of music being played by the Grammar School orchestra, who were practising for their speech day.
Beverley Grammer School was founded in 700AD and is the oldest state school in England.
By the way anyone who watched Victoria on TV recently would have seen the Minster as they used it to represent Westminster Abbey at her coronation.
It is not as huge as York Minster but I think just as beautiful, and has a more " homely" feel. Not sure that is how you should describe a church, but is how it felt to me. It is also free to look round.
They do have an interesting gift shop, and I bought some Christmas cards, and a couple of presents.

As it was Mr C's birthday The Star gave him a voucher for 10% off our next meal, so what a good excuse to go again.May be before Christmas.

The only down side to the day was that Mr C missed his footing on the last small step coming out of the pub, and went flying. Now has two big bruises, one on his elbow, and one where it can't be seen!
I assure you it wasn't due to the pint of beer and large glass of red wine.
( As it was his birthday treat I drove home)
No, it was because he was too busy looking towards the Rolls Royce parked at the end of park!
