Tampere City Library Metso

Emma had her practise in the afternoon and later in the evening she played women's II div. match in the Pyrintö Mixed team.
Pyrintö Mixed - Kaaron Roima 89-45

Me and hubby had three hours wait before the match. It was comfortably spent in the restaurant Inez and library Metso. In the picture is a scale model of the Metso building (=capercaillie). The new, renovated reading room has just been opened.

The architects have told having been influenced by a number of elements, such as Celtic ornaments, sheep horns and glacial spin formations. The basic idea for the construction was the space to coil spirally like the shell of a snail. The shape of a bird came up during the design process. More and more, the building began to resemble a bird, capercaillie. Seen from above, the building looks like a bird carrying a shield. The building is round without any corners.
