St Laurence- in-Thanet

I have brought Mother on a mini break to Ramsgate and Broadstairs to step into the footsteps of her ancestors. We visited St Lawrence-in-Thanet Church in Ramsgate where some of her ancestors are buried but the headstones are so weathered by the salt it it was impossible to read them.  The church was, disappointingly, closed.  It is the oldest building in Ramsgate, dating from 1027 and I would have loved to look inside.  Her mother lived in Broadstairs, so we stayed in a hotel there with a view over harbour and ate ice-cream in Morelli's an ice-cream parlour dating back to 1932. We are sure her mother would have eaten ice cream there too.
