Whiteout

MrQ commented to me the other day that the plants that he grows in the glasshouses just for us haven't been affected by pests this year. When we were in business we used all manner of chemicals to control bugs and diseases but all he uses these days is washing up liquid and he hasn't even had to employ to that this season.

It was a very calm day today and suddenly the air is full of whitefly. These are a real nuisance for glasshouse growers. They excrete a sticky honeydew that spoils the appearance of the crops and their sap-sucking reduces the vigour of the plants.

I got some very close macro shots of the tiny flies but have chosen to post some caught in a spider's web with my trusty assistant Jazzy in the background. :)
