On the edge of the Broads

We are having a short break in Norfolk. Not a place that we have visited except once before over 30 years ago when we came to a wedding. On that occasion we were staying in Swaffham so we stopped there to eat our lunch today to have a look around. We didn't recognise anything, not even the place we stayed. The only thing I could remember was the traditional town sign showing the Pedlar of Swaffham and his dog. We couldn't find it at all but we did find him in the lovely church of St Peter and St Paul, so at least I know I didn't imagine it. The legend goes that the Pedlar sought his fortune in London but actually found it back home in Swaffham and donated most of it to the building of the church. He and his dog are carved on the front pews. It is a lovely church with interesting embroideries and a carved wood ceiling, worth a look.
Travelling on to nearby Necton where the actual wedding took place we were pleased to find the traditional village sign was still there (also in the extra) and another lovely church that we couldn't remember! I'm sure the only things I do remember are because I took photos of them. The other place we visited on that occasion was Sandringham.

We are staying on the northern edge of the Broads between Norwich and the sea all of which we hope to get a flavour of on this brief visit.
Next to our hotel are these river cabins, I liked the light and the reflections as the little sun we had today began to disappear at 16.15!
Looking forward to more exploring tomorrow.
