My Old Friend is Back!

Well not exactly my old friend, but its clone. I took this photo with my new used Sony RX100 that arrived today from KEH. I've been really missing the ability to make these kinds of photos in camera. None of my programs does this quite the way the RX100 does. And the newer version I bought to replace this camera (RX100 iv) doesn't have this function the way I use it, on photos I've already taken, and multiple times on the same photo which enhances the effect.

I decided to send back the expensive sport water housing for the newer RX100 iv and buy one for this camera instead. That way I'd be taking the less expensive camera on my trip which seemed like a good idea to me. I found a used Kodak underwater housing on DPReview and a great price. The result was that I didn't pay that much more for both the housing and the camera than the cost of the more expensive housing. And it is a very lucky thing I did because I hadn't realized my RX100 iv would not have fit in the other housing anyhow as I added a grip to it that would have made it too big. It is really very lucky that I decided to make the change. This camera fits fine in the Kodak housing I got from a fellow on DPReview. So I am set to go to take underwater and beach photos with this camera on my trip to Belize in January. Happy kitty here!

I took this photo during a morning walk in Whatcom Falls Park. You can see more of the photos I took on Chaikins of Bellingham. In the afternoon I went to the Alzheimer's Society of Whatcom County (their new, more accurate name. Used to be "of Washington") and they split the group into new folks and us veterans. This proved to work really well for our group of oldies but goodies as we delved into some very deep territory about palliative care and death. These are topics that are hard to talk about but so important to discuss. And we had a long and deep one about them today. I am really glad we did.

Got word from Silverado that DSHS can't come to inspect them until early December. This is not good news. They can't open until they get the approval and now it most likely won't happen until later in December or even January. I was hoping Arvin would have had several months to adjust to Silverado before my trip. The company is trying to find a way to speed the process so we will see what happens.
