To Dunaverty from Kiel

(with Ailsa Craig, Sheep island, and Sanda island)

8.6C with sunny sunshine all day long. One or two fluffy white clouds. Moderate Northerly breeze, lighter later.

Grocery shopping over by mid morning. Maeve the Deerhound stayed at home.

We went the ten miles or so South to Southend then followed the road round past Dunaverty beach and Kiel to Carskey Bay where we had a walk with Maeve from one end of the beach to the other and back. The view over to the Antrim coast of Northern Ireland was very good in the clearer cool air.

The tide was coming in and the beachcasting fisherman was there again, his rod set up on its tripod and his line in the water. There were good small waves coming into the beach at an angle then running along the line of the shore with the wind lifting spray off the tops. The sea was showing all its range of blues and greens in the bright sunshine.

No Gannets today, just one gull and a couple of Ringed Plovers flying out from the beach.

On the way back along we stopped to chat with the fisherman. He told us he was using squid as bait.

I stopped the car at the tiny car park for St Columba's footstep and Columba's Well as we came back along to Kiel and we had a wander along the path at the back of the cemetery to see if we could get a different view of the trees from last week for Apothecary7 but the brambles on the overgrown narrow path won.

We had quite a late lunch.

Later still Apothecary7 was painting.

Afternoon music ... BBC Radio 2 then on CD Blue Rose Code, ...And Lo! The Bird is on the Wing.
