Quod oculus meus videt

Dunnock (Prunella modularis)

There was a time when I would have identified any bird with this type of plumage in the garden as a sparrow.  These days I'm a bit better educated.  This little fella made me laugh today; he was obviously attracted to the sunflower hearts in the nearby feeder but was struggling to land on it and stay there long enough to grab a seed.

Such are the restrictions of being at home, this was about all I could manage in terms of an image.

Ps Many thanks to Mother Shipton who has helped by correctly identifying this as a Dunnock and not a juvenile robin as I originally thought, obviously not as educated as I thought!
