From the Far Side ...

Actually we tend to refer to The Other Side when we talk about leaving Dunoon for more civilised parts. I crossed this morning as a foot passenger; it was grey and raining but considerably less blowy than when I was coming home almost four hours later. This is the view of the Firth of Clyde from McInroy's Point, where I was happy to be in a friend's car rather than shivering in the bus shelter. It looks lovely here, but it wasn't long before the next squall of sleet came along ...

What we're looking at is the ramp and breakwater of the original Western Ferries slip; the more frequently used, newer one is off to the right, at right angles to this one and more sheltered from all but a northerly wind. It's a true lifeline - the town ferry, run by Argyll Ferries, had only one ship an hour today because the other one was being ... mended?
