Marjorie's ramblings

Chance meeting with friends

I took Mum into Hexham today to look at floor coverings for our utility room and our conservatory. We saw one or two we might like and brought the samples home. The carpet fitter will come to check the measurements on Monday and we'll decide by then. This job will be done in the New Year, which is fine because the new central heating will be installed in December. Trying not to worry about how we will be put straight for Christmas.

We did some Christmas shopping in Boots. Why do shops offer 3 for the price of 2, when 2 would be fine, thank you?  We sorted a few presents and visited the market for fruit and veg or our way to the car. Then we went to M & S for a soup and rolll lunch. It was delicious.

Just before we finished, I noticed our friends Jenny and Kate at the other side of the restaurant. They had not seen us. So they came to join us and we had a long chat in which we tried to help Kate, who has big family responsibilities and a tricky situation to sort out. My conclusion was that the problem with her elderly relatives is insoluble - there are solutions but none will make everyone happy. Very hard.  Hope we helped!

We did M & S food shopping. Then I visited Margret and advised her not to try to go to the concert in the  Abbey tomorrow. She so wants to hear the Monteverdi Vespers, but she isn't well enough yet.

Tonight I cooked a chicken with veg in the pressure cooker. It is always delcious and we are now relaxing for the evening (when I've finished this, that is)!
