Improvements planned

Cannot wait to see the proposed improvements to Romsey’s town centre taking shape.
The plans have already been given the go-ahead, but town planners are currently in the consultation stage, seeking views of townspeople and traders.
But with the first stage of improvements already in place in the town’s Church Street, the second phase which takes in the town’s Bell Street  could get underway pretty soon.
The town planners say the improvements will provide residents, as well as the many visitors, with a fresh looking town centre that will be easier to navigate on foot, while in keeping with the town's historic character. The enhancements will also support the future vitality of this thriving market town.

The Market Place improvements are not scheduled until 2018, but for many pedestrians at present having to daily negotiate potentially dangerous sloping pavements on one side of the square, that time cannot come too soon.
