Barriers

A  treat of a crisp bright morning with the sun so low that travelling towards it obliterated most of the world. I kept stopping to take pictures so I was late for work. But that didn’t matter since…

I stayed late to meet ceridwen nearby this evening. We had a good chat over food then went to see Queen of Katwe, a feelgood film based on the true story of a very poor girl living in a Kampala slum who became a chess champion. Bright colours under tropical sun and ‘derelict’ backgrounds made for good watching. As the credits came up the actors were joined by the real-life people they were playing – a great touch. Incongruously, since it was shot entirely in Africa, it’s a Disney film. Ugandan music over the sparkly Disney castle ident was very odd but it’s a bit of a distribution coup for the African team who made it.

This one is much better against the grey background (large).
