Snow Cleaning

HarlingDarling picked up a tip about cleaning rugs using snow recently. We tried it out a few weeks back and it seemed to work really well, but then the snow all melted.
However, today there was snow on the ground, and it combined with cold dry weather so out we went with some of the mats.
You let the mats get cold, then roll them out and cover them with snow. After that vigorous rubbing is the order of the day. We used a yard brush and a scrubbing brush and brushed the snow back and forth, rubbing it into the mat at the same time. Finally we swept the mat as clear of snow as we could, rolled it up and took it indoors to dry.  Since the snow isn't wet at all, very little drying is required and after a night in the warmth the rug is dry and looking much brighter than previously. Traditional magic!
