A Star in the East

This star is one of the few to be seen in the streets of the city. The one that usually dwarfs the City Chambers is conspicuous by its absence this year. By and large the Christmas decorations seem to centre on the Christmas Market.

It is no wonder that we Brits talk about the weather all the time when the temperatures can fluctuate in the course of a day so wildly. Apparently yesterday morning, Moray had a temperature of 0 degrees while today it is reported to be 17 degrees, and this in December. Here in Edinburgh it was even mild enough for the family of foreign career beggars who make a living around Middle Meadow Walk to dispense with their blankets.

His Lordship would like you to know that having decided against walking in the hills today, I still sent him out from under my feet by suggesting he went to Peebles on the bus. He has just phoned to ask if he can come home at lunch time.

Meanwhile I have stocked the fridge and raided the bank for Christmas money and birthday money for the 5 unfortunates with birthdays over the Christmas period. How I wish they would all decide to have official birthdays in the middle of the year to even the cash flow.
