A quiet day at the beach

We had a pleasant and uneventful flight to Johannesburg last night, and knowing how chaotic and inefficient passport control is at ORT airport, this time we booked a connection flight to Durban which was 5 hours after we arrived. As luck would have it, passport control was not at all busy and we sailed through in a few minutes...and then sat in the lounge for the next 4.5 hours waiting for our connecting flight. It was not bad as it is one of the nicest lounges I have ever seen with the most amazing array of food - platters of all sorts of delicious food kept coming out and so we ate, had a shower and relaxed before our connecting flight to Durban.

So after experiencing 6C in England last week we arrived in Durban to 36C! We are staying at our favourite B&B which is a short walk from the beach in Umhlanga, so we popped down to the beachfront. Despite the good weather it was very quiet down there - schools break up for the Christmas/summer holidays tomorrow so I guess this is the lull before the storm. I have added an extra of transport, African style. This is a common sighting and it always shocks us a bit as in the UK you would probably lose your licence for transporting someone like that.

Gavin has been busy on a conference call and he has just finished so we will go for a walk before meeting up with the family for supper - an early one as I am very tired from the overnight flight last night, I never sleep on planes.
