Desert Sunrise

I was up at 5 a.m. this morning because I am still on East Coast time.  As the sky started to lighten,  I went out on the  upstairs terrace. My son had told me the sunrises were quite special here and this morning was jaw-dropping special.  This is looking east toward the Las Vegas strip and the mountains beyond.  The combination of the neon lights in the valley and Mother Nature's display in the sky…it was absolutely breathtaking. Not a bad way to start the day. 

This was taken without a tripod and so it isn't as sharp as I would like. It could have benefited from a smaller aperture, but I struggled with this shutter speed, and couldn't have managed a slower one.  Anyway, it was really the sky I wanted to capture.
