Climbing Santa

Met Carl in town with best intentions of doing some Christmas shopping before meeting friends and heading over to a party given by one of the guys from the Music Group. It was all a bit abortive, really, despite best intentions (the shopping, that is). The party? Brilliant. Met our mates in Madigans in Abbey Street and got a taxi over to Rathgar. It was a wet and miserable night. We needed to stop at an off-licence on the way, but chose one at Harold Cross which was a disaster. With the taxi meter running, we stood in front of an unattended counter while barmen walked up and down serving customers in the pub connected to the offie, blissfully ignoring the off-licence queue. The taxi driver was happy, but I can't say we were.

Our hosts ordered taxis at the end of the night, and Carl and I treated ourselves to a few more scoops in his place when we got there. The perfect recipe for sore heads tomorrow morning.
