Solace Day 1

4am seemed an awful time to be setting on the alarm but with the last main working day before Christmas on the probability of works closing early, we wanted to get down to the boat before the rush on the M6.

We sert off at 5.30am and had a thankfully uneventful journey. We knew the boat was standing ready for us so we quicky unpacked the luggage from the car and did several trolley runs to Solace. We were already on our journey by noon.

We wondered how come the car had been so laden for just 3 of us, no wheelchair and no dog. I decided it was because we are away self-catering over the long bank holiday and reliant on small village stores being open. I thought it would be best to take lots of food with us, and alcohol of course!

So here we are, chugging through Armitage on the Trent & Mersey Canal on narrowboat, Solace.
