Gold Dust

22nd December 2016

For many months now it has been apparent that Maize, the staple food in Malawi would become more and more scarce and so more and more expensive. And so it is, no PhD needed.

When our staff were asked the opted for a sack of maize in preference to any other gift for Christmas. Not very Malawian, but starvation is only a whisker away even the full time workers.

Here we have Stanley, our oldest and longest term employee, looking better than Ive seen him for years. He arrives first in the morning, maybe at 6.30am at the factory, is a diligent caretaker, eats lunch with us and finishes around 1pm, also looking happy is Martha whose twins are about 6 months now and . My God they are a great advert for employees at Wells for Zoë, they look so well.
Spoke to Rose at 4am my time and expressed my worries about some very poor girls. later the reply came:

No worry boss,
I am taking care of everybody, no starvation, everybody has taken maize, tha teacher now has entered in the system as well The rest are with me I am  trying my best to keep them well.
You were right some girls would be starving, but now everyone will be fine
know somr are starving.
Thank you boss for the support you are giving them otherwise there is a big problem.
Rose.

xx

How easy it is to put smiles on faces.
Just a little thoughtful concern.
And a woman with a heart of pure GOLD
Thats our Rose
