Christmas candles

Our second Christmas Day was a much quieter affair than the first one, partly because a third of our family were missing -and partly because nobody was really feeling all that well, thanks to this horrible chesty virus. Nevertheless we all managed to enjoy the second round of Christmas food, particular the slow-cooked wild boar which was really delicious. Having grown rather tired of Christmas music, we ate to a sound track of Northern folk-music, taking in Finland and Sweden and ending up with a comparison of Mongolian and Inuit throat-singing! I'm afraid none of us were really in the mood for games, so in the afternoon I finished my novel, and in the evening we all snuggled up and watched Maigret, which was superbly filmed - very atmospheric.
