Threatening skies

Awoke to snow, threatening dark skies and gusty flurries of driven snow which continued for much of the morning although later on they turned to rain as we were walking into Edinburgh.

We took the 44 bus part of the way into the city, walking the rest alongside the Union Canal, down the Lothian Road and into Princes Street Gardens enroute for John Lewis for lunch. Turned up there to find it closed so went to Jenners instead where the queue was just as slow as last time we were there.

From Jenners we walked along Princes Street to Hotter on the off chance of me finding some shoes. I was amazed to find a pair of gortex shoes in the sale with a further 20% off making them about half the ticket price.

A quick walk to Coda Records next followed by a stroll around the Christmas Market which was quite quiet on our way to the Guildford Arms: shut! So round the corner to the Cafe Royal for a pint and a couple of whiskies.

Caught the 44A back to Balerno ready for the traditional Boxing Day dinner.
