Staying Close To Home

It wasn't a day for spending much time outside, - cold, grey, dismal.

I noticed bullfinches in the front garden for the first time this year.  They seem to like to feed on the seeds the maples drop. They are very shy and fly off at the first sign of movement from the house. 

Their pink chests were just about the only colour in the landscape in front of us. And this Christmas bauble the only bird picture I managed to take. 

Another evening by the fire!
