Lindisfarne Castle...

Post-Xmas backblip 5

...from the Priory. A relatively early start this morning to Lindisfarne - we wanted to walk around the island and get back across the causeway on to the mainland before 1.15pm (when the tide would come in and prevent our return for a few hours). First a walk on the great expanse of beach by the dunes just across the causeway (Extra), then a walk around the village and around by the harbour and priory. And a visit to the winery, of course, though we were all very restrained and emerged with only a tea towel!

Back to the car for refreshment (coffee and slabs of Christmas cake) before returning home for a quick lunch. MrM spent an hour or so in the workshop and did some shopping in the afternoon, while I walked up through Humbleton village and across to Wooler Common with Lucy and Jake. Had hoped that they would get some good views of the Cheviot but, alas, not - the high tops were under cloud. It was a nice walk all the same!

Played 'Unbelievable Truth' early in the evening (great fun and quite educational after a fashion!), and then walked down to 'Milan' for an early birthday celebration meal! Lovely day!
