Heavy Knitting

As abstract as it gets today.

In the background the Beetham tower, Manchester's tallest building.

In the foreground two eyelets on the new bridge deck that has been placed across the River Irwell.

Next month a ginormous crane arrives. It will lift the steel arches onto the bridge deck, and these will be tied to the deck by steel cables which will be threaded through these eye holes.

The bridge, when complete, will link different railway lines, and for the first time Victoria and Piccadilly rail stations. Heavy Knitting indeed.
