Building houses

This site is being built out rapidly - lots of people have moved in to their new homes, evidenced by lots of Christmas wreaths on doors, kids playing in front gardens, and well cared for domestic moggies sitting enjoying the sunshine. Chatting to the sales lady it seems it is attracting local people, doctors and surgeons from the Manchester hospitals, and young couples and families currently living in city centre apartments..

But it's a controversial site. Local residents strongly opposed it, it only got permission after an appeal and inquiry, and there have been loads of complaints about construction traffic. But when I had a look today it was all looking very clean and tidy. And already the new homes look well cared for.

New housing is either critical to allowing people to get a roof over their heads (especially young people), or an awful thing because it brings change and disruption, and the homes should be built somewhere else.
