Splish Splash

I had a major shoe failure on my way to a meeting in Manchester this morning. By the time I got there my right sock was soaking wet, and the left one was getting damp. Penguin feet is not a great look. Even for me.

At lunchtime on my return I called in at a retail emporium and bought new shoes and socks. En route I stopped and took the above photo, a goodbye to useless footwear.

The floor of the connecting space between the Town Hall Extension and the Central Library is covered in mosaic “flowers”. Those with illuminated red centres remember the individuals killed in the Peterloo Massacre of 1819, nearby. This one remembers John Ashton, killed by sabre blows from the charging cavalry.
