Birthday at Greywalls

As today is my birthday we went out for some fine dining at Greywalls, a small country house hotel on the edge of the Muirfield Golf Course built in 1901 by Sir Edwin Lutyens. The kitchen is part of the Chez Roux chain set up by Albert Roux and currently Emily Roux, a daughter of the famous culinary family works there. One of the glories of this small hotel is its Edwardian lounge where you will have your pre-meal aperitif and take coffee afterwards. it feels like a small time capsule.

Elsewhere the walls are plastered with golf memorabilia and many of the top golfers have stayed or dined there over the years.
