Warwick

It was a day of showers. In the old days, in the summer, we used to get sunshine and showers sometimes, but they were summer showers, light, refreshing, welcome. Nowadays showers are like monsoons. They are tremendous, accompanied by thunder and lightning; with bright warm bits in between. Is this global warming? If so I guess we better get used to it, though it's not all that nice.

Emma came around for coffee this morning and we chatted and caught up.

Later we went to Warwick to meet Maureen, Ian, Mike and Linda for lunch. We were going to go to the Thai Restaurant, Art Kitchen, but a last minute change of mind found us holed up at Thomas Oken Tea Rooms.

This is based in a 16th century building in the heart of old Warwick, not far from the castle. It was very cosy and welcoming and I had an excellent Welsh Rarebit with a pot of leaf Earl Grey tea. It's a while since I've had to use a tea strainer.

All the food looked delicious, especially the display of cakes on offer; very tempting.

Ann has gone down to Shaldon, again, to prepare the chalet leaving me to look after Tom and Dylan. Not an arduous task ;-) though I'm worried about the amount of rain we're having and the motorways. Tomorrow is meant to be a much better day.

The photograph is taken in Maureen and Ian's bathroom. I thought it looked so elegant, and gave it a little tint to emphasise.
