Taking the train north

Got the train to the doctor where I'm still registered in my old stomping ground of Ely as I am paranoid that the greater than normal feelings of feebleness over the last few months relate to something tropical or parasitic I'm harbouring. It wouldn't be a surprise.

As I finished waffling on the doctor said 'oh, so you didn't fancy staying in the north west then?' I was sure any trace of northern accent had been beaten out by speaking to international colleagues in neutral English and working in one of the poshest cities in the country for years. I'm pleased to still harbour a twang. I'd sound like Lisa Stansfield if I'd remained in the town where I was born.
