My father has very little memory of anything after the age of about 20 but when shown photos of his childhood he can remember exactly who and where the photos represent. Unfortunately he does not recognise his own four children's childhood photos despite many photos being in very notable locations. His most treasured possession is this little bowl and he can recount how his father bought it for his mother when they were on honeymoon almost 100 years ago at Colwyn Bay. He still talks of his parents and asks when we last visited them despite his father having died in 1953. Before my mother also went into care she chose a selection of photos which meant much to her and enjoyed looking through the album today but after three pages my father got very frustrated that the photos no longer meant a thing to him. Loss of memory is so devastating.
