Milford Sound

A very early start today for  Milford Sound.  We decided to go on an organised trip and it was very good and informative.  Excellent commentary.  It rained pretty much all of the day which was a pity in some ways but the waterfalls were spectacular (silver lining).

Milford Sound is the most northerly and celebrated of Fiordland's 15 fiords.  It has vertical sides towering 1200m above the sea and is 16 km long and mostly less than 1 km wide.  It rains here over 180 days a year giving a massive 7m of annual rainfall.

Great day.
