High tide Aftermath

This afternoon Mollie and I went in to Cromer to see what damage had occurred following the high seas last night. Mollie had already seen pictures of the inside of the pier bar, where a gaping hole from a lifted plank meant a direct view of the sea beneath! Needless to say the pier had been closed yesterday at 11 am and all day today. Everyone was safely off it when it happened. There are various videos on social media showing the waves breaking over the pier and wall. The result was lots of debris, beach stones etc on the road and path, the damage to the pier in places, and these poor beach huts. Several seemed to have been broken like match sticks, others tumbled over and leaning against each other. I took this with my zoom. All entrances to the beach were cordoned off, although clearly further along the beach people were accessing it. Mollie is at work tomorrow, when she has been told they will spend the day cleaning up. We understand the hole in the floor has been fixed by the council!

The rest of the day has been less exciting. A trip in to Holt this morning, where we had coffee and cakes in Bakers & Larners. A late lunch consisted of the reduced price steak and ale pies I bought in Morrisons yesterday. 2 for 19p, so 4 for 38p. I was very pleased with that and they were tasty with left over Christmas pickles and salad.

Now we are just settling down for another game of Pandemic, to see if we can beat it again. I hope the board game evenings continue....it's the only time I see Henry!
