Lake Alexandrina

The weather wasn't so kind today and it was all a bit dull.  We drove up to  Mount John first of all and had a coffee there - some good views from the top (see extras).  Minimal light pollution here provides good conditions for observing the night skies and several astronomical institutions from around the world operate the telescope domes.  

Then to Lake Alexandrina - a very quiet, off the beaten track place which few people frequent as there is quite a long gravel road to reach it.  

We had intended to go to Mount Cook today but the grey weather and promise of rain rather put us off.  Next time ......
