Above And Beyond...

Australia Day

It's Australia Day in Oz. It's the anniversary of the arrival of the First Fleet of 11 convict ships from Great Britain, and the raising of the Union Jack at Sydney Cove by its commander Captain Arthur Phillip, in 1788.

Half of the nation’s population of 24 million attend either an organised community event, or get together with family and friends with the intention of celebrating national day.

Frezabird invited Mrs BB and I to their house for a lunchtime bar-b-cue. Over four hours passed so quickly as we ate, drank and chatted. We enjoyed the 'blipmeet' and had an excellent time in fabulous company.
Thanks!

On the drive home, we stopped off at Runaway Bay and decided to have a walk along the sand to Biggera Waters. The Gold Coast beaches are amazing; families and couples were enjoying the late afternoon sun. There was a lovely breeze and a lot of the beachfront apartments had The Australian flag on display. Not everyone celebrates it but no doubt they all appreciate the public holiday!
