We woke to wet weather but that wasn't really a surprise.  Four of us set off up Steel Edge to Place Fell, then down to the Ullswater Path and back to the hut.  Some of the descent was very steep and I was glad I'd got a pole.  I found the walk very hard, but that was probably due to setting off at a too-fast pace (two of the four are in their twenties) and a poor night's sleep - the bed platform was not at all soft!
