It's a First

Aficionados though His Lordship and I are of cafés the length and breadth of these sceptred isles and beyond, we have never until this morning graced the 'Wait to be seated' part of the café in the RSA art gallery at the foot of the Mound.
We have coffeed in The Portrait Gallery and the two divisions of the Modern Art Gallery where the art on display in each is quite a distraction to the alternative art of eating.
However this morning we were invited by neighbours in receipt of Valvona and Crolla gift vouchers to join them in the Contini café which is the posh café adjoining the more plebeian one in the RSA gallery and very nice it was too.

This blip is of the Princes Street Gardens' approach to the café looking down on the meandering path to Waverley Bridge.
It was a very dull overcast day with the constant threat of rain, but as I write this at 4:30 the sun, just as it is about to set, has suddenly broken through the clouds and sunshine is blinding me as it streams through the window.
How much longer the days seem now at this time of the afternoon, even if the mornings are still dark.
